Ravel: String Quartet in F major
Schubert: Octet in F major, D803
One of Schubert’s greatest musical achievements, his spirited Octet in F major, is one of the truly great masterpieces of the chamber music canon. Scored for mixed wind and strings, it is written on a symphonic scale yet maintains the intimacy of a true piece of chamber music played among friends which exemplifies its enduring popularity.
For its second Festival’s appearance, the Van Kuijk Quartet collaborates with a number of Ireland’s finest musicians in this most enduring of works.
