The final concert in the 2017 Dublin Musical Saunter could well be termed a Cruinniú Ceoil, with a cohort of artists gathering to salute in song and music the indefatigable Dr Veronica Dunne. Affectionately known to one and all as Ronnie, her contribution to Irish musical life is truly immeasurable. The Festival is immensely proud that acclaimed Irish mezzo-soprano, Patricia Bardon, an international distinguished protégée of Ronnie’s, will join in the gathering to salute her landmark birthday year.
Other musical guests include sister and brother Dearbhla and Finghin Collins, who will accompany singers Rachel Croash, Gemma Ní Bhriain, Patrick Hyland and Rory Musgrave in Brahms’ Liebeslieder Walzer, and perform Schubert’s F minor Fantasie masterpiece.
The concert also features two different settings of Pádraig Pearse’s evocative poem The Mother; the original by TC Kelly, first performed by Veronica Dunne, and a new composition by Sebastian Adams, commissioned by the Great Music in Irish Houses Festival. Both will be performed by soprano, Rachel Croash.
Presented in association with the OPW and supported by Dublin City Council.
